How to remove an airlock from your spa

This guide will show you how to remove any air that may be trapped in your hot tub’s circulation system.

Air can become trapped because of a low water level, a blocked filter or filling the spa incorrectly.

Trapped air can be identified by a rattling or whirring noise.

The first course of action to take if you notice any unusual sound is to remove the filter from the filter housing.

Once you have removed the filter, make sure you turn the hot tub’s power off from the main power supply and unplug.

The circulation pump can be found behind the cabinet of your hot tub.

Once you have located the pump, the first thing to do is loosen the cuff that joins the pump onto the pipe work. You may notice a hissing or squealing noise as air escapes from the system. Let the water trickle out for about five seconds, and then screw the joint on tightly.

How to Drain your Hot Tub

This is the drainage valve you will find on the bottom of your hot tub’s ABS base. Depending on your hot tub model, the valve may be located in any of the corners or the side of the hot tub base.

The spout of the valve should be set to the locked position, preventing water from flowing out. To allow water to flow, push the spout inwards and make sure it can rotate. Water should now be able to flow freely from the spout.
